Beth was first drawn to clay nearly 40 years ago while watching a potter working on a wheel at an art show. She began taking classes from a private teacher, then at Royal Oak Community College in Michigan. After moving to Chagrin Falls in 1982 she became involved with the Valley Art Center and started teaching classes there in 1983. For the next 12 years in addition to teaching, Beth participated in many annual art shows throughout northeast Ohio, including The Triangle show in Chagrin Falls as well as “Art on the Green” in Hudson.
Beth continued teaching classes at all levels, spending several years at Ursuline College, West Geauga Senior Center and Orange Art Center. She attends the Functional Ceramics Workshop in Wooster, Ohio each year. Beth enjoys learning new techniques, experimenting with surface decoration and glaze application. She loves teaching pottery because it gives her a chance to inspire students to find the love of clay that she found long ago.
